Public Workshop on West Stadium Reconstruction

On Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from 6 pm to 8 pm, there will be a public workshop at Pioneer High to discuss the West Stadium (Pauline to Main St) Reconstruction Project. We are about to begin the design of this project and we will be sharing information and gathering public input at the workshop.

This is not the East Stadium Bridge Project.

Next week, a flyer will go out advertising the meeting. If you wish to be added to the email list for news about the project. Contact Liz Rolla at erolla@a2gov.org.

Temporary Signage in Scio Township

It has come to our attention that there has been some recent confusion about the signage regulations in Scio Township, especially the regulations covering temporary signage.

Scio Township has all sign regulations posted on their web site at http://www.twp.scio.mi.us/ordinances/zoning2003 under Section 13.

We hope that the Scio Township Board will revisit all the sign regulations and clarify some of those that are causing the most confusion to businesses.

Rounding the Roundabouts

A traffic roundabout is “a circular, unsignalized intersection where entering traffic yields to motorists circulating counterclockwise around a central island.” By the end of 2008, six roundabouts will be in operation in Washtenaw County.

If you’ve tried the new roundabout near Brighton or the new ones on North Maple, you’ve learned that there is a method to navigating them. There are “rules” to follow and specific signage to be aware of.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission’s web site has posted information on how to navigate a roundabout as a motorist, a cyclist, and a pedestrian. There is also a link to a video about roundabout navigation. Their site is: www.wcroads.org/news/articles/roundabouts/navigate.htm. We've also added a link under "Links" on this web site.
